SOTA @ DM/RP-115 Hunsrückhöhenweg

Woke before dawn, parked at the trailhead, hiked six kilometres up the ridge. Weather swung from drizzle to brilliant sun in under an hour — classic Hunsrück.

Setup

Squid pole lashed to a fence post, EFHW inverted-V, station on a boulder. The radio had maybe ten percent of its internal battery before I swapped over to the Bioenno pack.

The log

Twenty metres first. Nine stations on SSB in fifteen minutes, then a quiet stretch, then CW — three summit-to-summits in the gap before the cloud closed in. The W4 punched through on SSB as the sun came back out and everyone on frequency stopped to listen.

28 QSOs, four points, three S2S, one thermos emptied, and a hike back that my legs are still discussing.
